Well it's been a few days since my last update on the mo progress (mogress?), and a busy few days it has been.

A busy week last week at work was made more manic by our server crashing midway through Thursday. Not just a normal crash, but a non-recoverable hardware failure type crash. Panic ensued for a few hours while the extent of damage was assessed.

Friday morning brought us the conclusion that trying to rebuild the defunct server was a futile task, and so we hunted around for an immediate replacement. After sourcing a suitable replacement we set about the task of retrieving as much data as possible from the dead server. During this process we were also shocked to find out that our daily backups had failed every day for the last 5 months. Luckily the RAID array was intact, and we recovered all of the essential data. A lesson was very quickly learnt - verify backups!

The rest of the weekend was spent reinstalling all of the server software, mail archives, dev sites, etc, and Monday morning we were ready to reinstate everybody onto the network. Many thanks to Pete at for all the hours spent getting us back together.

Oh, and the mo is coming along nicely, but I'm really looking forward to the end of the month.
